Library Hotel New York Winter Wedding

Winters in New York can make it challenging for couples eloping, but the Library Hotel has the perfect indoor/outdoor space for a small wedding. Fiona and Matt and their family came from Scotland for an intimate New Years Eve wedding and it was such a pleasure documenting their day! Rev. Annie Lawrence officiated the ceremony held indoors on the terrace. Fiona had this beautiful gray and silver button bouquet. After cake and champagne, it was off for a walk around the bustling holiday market at Bryant Park. Since it was indeed quite cold, we visited Grand Central to warm-up and get a few more family photos.

Getting married on New Year's Eve in New York can be tricky, there are all kinds of things to consider around midtown such as heavy traffic and street closures. Not to mention pedestrian traffic! We visited Radio City Music Hall and there were so many people walking around, however one of our favorite images came from that moment! (I knew it was a great black and white photo and I know Fiona liked it because she ordered it as a fine art print!) We visited the Rockefellar Christmas tree and sadly the best angle (and the entire area near it!) for photos is taken over by a company selling photos now. I hadn't been there in a few years, but my husband and I had been there many times before and waiting our turn and it was nice.

The street closures made it difficult for the driver they hired to get around, so we had to walk more than usual, but eventually we made it to Central Park for the last glimpse of sunset. (It would have been difficult to get a cab on that day, so having the car was great, it was just tricky getting around the closed streets!) Fiona gave me some Scottish shortbread and a sachet, such a thoughtful gift! After I ate all the shortbread, I started making my own, though not quite as nice, they were still perfect with hot chocolate. Though don't mistake that for missing winter, I'm ready for a long hot summer!
